I often use fresh turmeric root, but u this wonderful healing root isn’t often available in most grocery stores or markets.
Lemon Ginger Turmeric Tea
- 1 teaspoon grated fresh turmeric root or ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
- Juice of ½ lemon
- 2 teaspoons raw honey
- 1 ½ cup filtered water
- 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger root or ½ teaspoon ginger powder
- 2-3 twists of black pepper
In a saucepan combine turmeric, ginger and water and heat on medium-high. You need to simmer for 5 to 10 minutes, make sure it doesn’t boil. You need to strain the liquid and pour into a mug. After that add lemon juice and honey and give it a good stir.
If you grate the turmeric root, be careful not to ruin your counter top or clothing as it can leave nasty yellow stains.
